Meet our new Brewer

A few weeks ago we brought on a new brewer to help ease the increased brewing demands we've seen steadily increase at the brewery. Being a production focussed brewery, the quality and consistency of our beers is paramount for us, and were thrilled to bring aboard Stu Grant in this role.

Stu started home brewing while at Uni in 2002, mostly out of interest in the processes of brewing and how they create flavour. Finding great flavours, and discovering how they're made, has held his interest ever since - not just in homebrewing, but also roasting coffee, which he has been Chief Roaster at Ritual Coffee since 2010.

Stu's homebrews earned him both the Champion Beer and Champion Brewer awards at this year's Tasmanian Homebrewing Competitions - the inevitable result of trial and error, insists his wife, but he was nevertheless chuffed.

He lives in Launceston with his wife Elly and twin daughters Remy and Clover, aged 8 months.

Stu's brewing interests tend towards barrel-ageing, and Farmhouse & Wild ales, but he loves to brew (and drink) any beer with great flavours. Complete with the mandatory brewers beard, we've got no doubt our brewery and beers will continue to improve with the addition of Stu, as he takes a big leap personally and professionally.

*Prior to starting with us, Stu partnered with Saint John Craft Beer and MooBrew to brew a Black Saison. Join Stu & the MooBrew team this evening at Saint John as they launch a seasonal Saison, Black Saison & and experimental barrel aged version with a bit of Brett.
